Refund Scams

If you paid for technical support services, and later receive a call about a refund, this call is a scam. Please don’t give any personal or financial information to this caller. These individuals try to access your computer stating various fake reasons, including:

  • There is a problem with your computer. Consumertechdesk wants to refund the amount charged and to do that we need access to your computer.
  • We need your Bank Account details to make a refund.
  • We need your Credit Card Details to make a refund.
  • We need you to purchase prepaid cards like Google Play Cards or ITunes Cards to activate the software and you can redeem it later.

The refund scam works like this: Several months after a purchase, someone calls to ask if you were happy with the service. If you say “No”, the scammer offers a refund. Or, the caller says the company is going out of business and giving refunds. The scammer eventually asks for your bank or credit card account number, or asks for access to your bank account to make a deposit. But instead of putting money in your account, the scammer takes money from your account.

  • Consumertechdesk will never call you unless we are returning your call.
  • Consumertechdesk will only connect to your computer because you asked.
